White River National Forest (Colorado) and the Economic and Environmental Impact it Faces:

Abstract: This 8 page report discusses issues associated with the many issues associated with the controversy regarding environment versus economics in the environment. The White River National Forest encompasses literally hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, skiing (including the Vail and Aspen resorts)fishing, and horseback riding. The Forest Service has issued a proposal that much of the forest be restricted from recreational users in order to give it a chance to re-establish its viability as an ecosystem. Not surprisingly, the idea has generated a great deal of controversy. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
