Gelasius and the 'two swords.'

Abstract: (5 pp). In the modern world we are comfortable with the separation of church and state. In the Ancient world that was not always the case. The duality of authority, conceived by Pope Gelasisus I (492-496), as the separation of church and state are discussed. Other historic interpretation of this idea is presented as well. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
