The Controversy Over the Pairs Skating Competition at the 2002 Winter Olympics

Abstract: This 5 page report discusses the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and the scandal that erupted over vote-fixing in the pairs figure skating competition. The controversy over the gold medal for the pairs competition was complicated by allegations (and proof) of unfair judging and judging collusion that resulted in the removal of a judge and the nearly unprecedented awarding of two gold medals.
