Nurse Practitioners in New Jersey

Abstract: A 5 page paper describing the role of the nurse practitioner and the requirements of the position. The paper lists educational and personal requirements, and it discusses the current power struggles between professional associations of nurse practitioners and MDs. These struggles are political and generally are profit-motivated, for patients actively seek out the advanced practice nurse who will spend more time with them and better explain what is happening with them. There is long term, systemic change underway in the American health care system, and the power struggles currently in operation are only symptomatic of that change. It is the patient who benefits most. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
