Arthropoda

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Considered the most adaptable animals in the world, arthropods are as diverse as the environment in which they live. That they exist on land, under the sea or in the air speaks to their unprecedented compatibility with the earth's many and varied topography. Representing an entire three-quarters of all living and fossil organisms known to man, which equates to more than one million identified species overall, the true number of arthropods species is suspected to be between six and nine million due to the untold numbers yet to be discovered in such terrain as tropical rain forests. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
