Abstract: This 3-page paper is a review of Melissa Caldwell's "Not by Bread Alone," her book of poverty and hunger in post-Soviet Russia. She uses the CCM soup kitchen as a type of allegory/microcosm to discuss poverty in Russia and how its people react to it.
