Abstract: A 1 page paper looking at the opposition of the oral tradition versus the written word in the third-world African countries. The two novels examined are Camara Laye's 'L'Enfant Noir' (The Dark Child) and Ousmanne Sembene's 'God's Bits of Wood.' Bibliography lists three sources.
