Nicaraguan Influence on the United States

Abstract: A 9 page research paper that examines the relationship between these two counties. The writer argues that the history of Nicaragua and that of the United States has long been intertwined. The U.S. has felt that an interest in Nicaragua was crucial to its national interest and security since the middle of the nineteenth century. However, no relationship works in only one direction. Just as the United States has influenced the course of historical development in Nicaragua, this involvement has necessarily involved a Nicaraguan influence in U.S. culture. This influence has largely manifested itself in much the same way that U.S. involvement in Vietnam caused a corresponding dissention movement that had a great influence on the political and cultural atmosphere within the United States.
